General Description
The brief was to make
the counter bright to reflect the vivid colours of
the glass. Behind the counter there was to be a method of
holding large rolls of bubble wrap, tissue paper and a set
of drawers. The entire counter had to be of "knock
down" design as there is only one fairly narrow entrance to
the shop.
Construction is from grade 1 joinery softwood stained
with Liberon water based stain and finished with
several coats of satin polyurethane. End frames are
mortise and tennoned, dowelled into the rails and pulled up
with 10mm dia bolts. The bolt heads are hidden by
plugs turned up from reclaimed oak. In the
fullness of time the Lafiore logo will be affixed to the
front of the counter. If necessary the counter front can be
easily exchanged for a neutral surface.
